KAi/flow

Chat · Flow

Team chat, inside Flow.

Talk with your team where information is created. Nothing to install and no extra account: whoever has Flow has the chat, with the same people and the same permissions.

Three things that make it different

Conversations are your spaces

Every team space has its own channel, with the same members who see its files. Plus “Everyone” for the whole company, and one-to-one conversations. No second address book to keep aligned.

Attachments stay Flow files

An attachment is not a copy lost in a chat: everyone finds it under My Flow › Chat › conversation name, synced on their computer, with versions and trash like any other file.

It arrives right away, where you're working

On your computer, a separate window that stays open while you work, with system notifications. In the browser and on your phone, the same chat with the same messages.

KAi, the assistant that stays inside Flow

KAi is the first conversation in People: you write to it as you would to a colleague, and it replies to every message. It sees what you see, and asks you to confirm before changing anything. KAi runs on Flow's servers, in the European cloud.

You find it where you already work

  • In the browser

Sidebar → Chat, with the unread count.

  • On Mac

From the icon in the menu bar: a separate window, and the unread count on the Dock icon.

  • On Windows

From the tray: a separate window, and a red dot on the icon when there's something to read.

  • On your phone

In the bottom bar of the Flow app, next to your files.

An attachment that doesn't get lost

Attach from your computer or straight from Flow, choosing from your spaces. Images show in the thread, other files are a line with name and size. Then everyone finds it in their own Flow: they open it in the viewer, move it where they like, find it in the trash if they delete it. Attaching from Flow doesn't move the original: it stays where it is.

The things you need to work

  1. 1

    Reply and react

A reply carries the quote with it, and one click takes you back to the original message. There are six reactions, and you can see who reacted.

  2. 2

    Mentions and commands

With @ you call a person, with / you attach, open a conversation or search. Bold and italics from the keyboard.

  3. 3

    Search your messages

By words, by exact phrase in quotes, or by author with “from:Marco”. Messages also appear in the general search, below the files.

  4. 4

You know when it's been read

“read · 10:42” in one-to-one conversations, “read by 3” in groups, and who is typing at that moment.

Who sees what

A space's channel is seen by its members, the same people who see its files: if you are not in the space you don't see the channel, and there is no exception for the administrator. One-to-one conversations stay between the two of you. Messages don't expire: they stay as long as you want them, go into backups like everything else and are stored encrypted on our servers. Everyone can delete their own: a placeholder takes their place, and nobody else can remove them on their behalf.
